Ok. I upgraded my lighting about 2 weeks ago and I kept a real close eye on any possible algae starting to grow. I just noticed a spot only about 1/2 an inch wide of cyano! I increased the flow in that one spot... What else should I do to make sure it does not get any worse!!! Should I cut back my lighting time too? I usually ahev the lights on 9 hours... Should I cut it back to 6? I have never had cyano before and I want to make sure it does not come back! No other places have cyano... Just that one spot. I am also gunna try and syphon when I can from the rock with airline tubing.
*I just tried syphoning it but it won't come off, it's attached pretty good? I thought cyano came right off easily? Is this not cyano maybe?*

If you are in doubt on the ID , HollyG
    get a picture up
as you say Cyno is typically very easy to remove and a hovered syphon normally does the trick for me, only getting a few grains of sand if I get the hover distance about right

reducing nutrients is a good method, along with increasing flow, if it is indeed Cyno you have

Holly does it look anything like what you see here? It's more like a red turf algae. It's only on this one rock in my tank. Several times, in different spots I've been able to peal it off. Other spots it's pretty well attached. Not sure of the actual name of though.

Yea... It does look similar but mine isn't that dark... Mine is pink! It has a kind of stiffness to it... Like of like a sponge but it isnt quite that stiff..... Maybe more like playdough in a way. I can't get a picture because of where it is... I can try. It also has bubbles trapped in it like cyano often does.
