Guaranteed method to significantly reduce or even eliminate cyano!
    1. wait till near the end of your light cycle and siphon out as much cyano as possible.
    2. Lights off for 3 days (if tank gets sunlight you may need to cover with a blanket)
    3. Add 3-4x ( I usea as much as possible because I want guaranteed success) the recommended carbon and GFO. Change after the first week.
    4. Make sure all your water parameters are in check (cal, alk, & mag). IME, problem algaes seem to bloom best win tanks with low alk.
    5. Make sure the tank has sufficient circulation.

Why it works? Cyano cannot thrive without light. This is why you seem to have less when the lights are off and more by the end of the light cycle. All day the cyano is consuming nutrients and taking in light. That is why you wait til the end of the light cycle to export as much of those nutrients as possible. The GFO and carbon are then used to remove any other remaining nutrients that may feed cyano and stem it's return.
