Cyano?????

Hi guys,

I looked at my tank today and noticed some algae on it and was not sure if it was beneficial, bad, or cyano (which is my worst nightmare). I turned off my lights, and right now its just on my heater and a rock, but there are a few spores (?) of it that got loose and floated away, which could be anywhere in the tank. Sorry for the bad quality, used an ipad.

Oh and also sry for the diatoms in the background, can i just clean up those with a paper towel?

 

I don't see any cyano, but i do need glasses! you got your RODI right?

 

i dont see any either. How long has your tank been up?

Thank goodness. And yes it just completed the cycle 2(?) Weeks ago. And I'm waiting until I do some more research before getting an ro/Di unit.

 

I dont wanna be the barer of bad news but for a new system to mature, it will go thru some algae blooms (most not all.). I went thru bad GHA n just recently cyano. Both are gone now.

Are you using rodi right now even tho u dont have a unit?

 

Z are you still using the 10 nitrate LFS water?

 

^^^? Never been using 10 nitrate LFS water. Use my own 0 nitrate tap water and then just dalechlorinate.

 

And how do you move a thread from urgent to resolved?
