This has to be Cyano. Just making sure. I have never had it before. I think because I adjusted my powerheads. I need more flow. I am adding two more Koralias. Also I added the fuge about a month ago with Chaeto and a little live rock and it is absolutely covered in Cyano now. Params are good except nitrates are up to 20 now. UGHHHH. time to do a water change. My TDS meter reads 3 for my top off water. Is that enough to cause problems?

Thanks lol. I never had it in my smaller tanks. I am thinking it is mostly due to lack of flow. I always had overkill flow. I suppose the nitrates aren't helping. Gotta get that down

Yes it is cyanobacteria! Elevated nutrient levels as well as decreased water movement will spur this outbreak!

So I got two more Koralias on the way. I would do a water change tonight but I ran out of salt. Should I get rid of as much Cyano in the fuge as possible when I do the water change. I am gonna syphon out as much as I can in the DT

Cyano in the fuge is a catch 22. Most fuges use slow turnover rate, and one way to combat cyano is high flow. What I did for my fuge was to put a Koralia nano in my fuge to move water in the fuge for the cheato, and it doesn't change the actual flow from the tank into the fuge. I would definitely remove the cyano as it can damage the tissue of other living tissues.
