I want to thank everyone for helpng me zap out cyanobacteria in my tank. It is completely gone and has not returned in 2 days. I wasnt expecting the results so soon but I am very happy that it went away. You guys on here have helped me more than the people at my LFS, So I "Thank You from the bottom of my heart." Now I can enjoy my vacation in Germany without worrying. What a relief!!!

Mario I think what did the trick was increasing the water flow in my tank to the dead spots and when I did my water change I added red slim remover into the water(went right away even the red slim that was starting to build up on my LR). You gotta get some of that stuff it works wonders. I will always keep some in my medicine cabinet, thats for sure!

Coral Reefer I will keep my eye out for ya on those lights..lol

Its a good thing that the cyano is gone... But what you did didnt fix the problem, the cyano did go away cause of the chemical but if there is still a problem with you tank (skimmer, lights, filter, water params, etc), it will come back. I used a chemical a couple years ago, i think it was chemi clean, yes the cyano did go away but only for a couple of weeks and then return in full force.

I know you've been really working hard on this problem but from my experience using a chemical to "temporarily" fix a problem is not the solution, find the source of the cyano and then you will get rid of it for good. Who knows maybe you fixed it just by adding more flow like you said...

Sorry I havent been able to respond to any of you for awhile I just got back from Germany and Im sorry to say coral reefer I did not even see any LFS to find those bulbs for ya. Not that I could have brought any livestock home anyway but I was hoping to atleast see what they had over there but I was not successful.
Pisces there really isnt a brand name for the stuff that I used it is just called Red Slime Remover. It comes in a small bottle and in the form of yellow powder. I must say when I got home my tank never looked so good. It is still crystal clear without a trace of the red slime!!
