    No you do not
    you can start the tank with no lights and then add the lights before getting light dependant live stock in

    kool. I have a tank right now but had some problems and I am breaking down my biocube and putting up a 54 corner and dont have a light yet but wanted to see if I could set it up and get started. Thanks everyone!
