    whats cyano? i have my lights on from 7-8am actinics then 8am-8pm full and actinic then 8pm-9pm actinic then moon led on from 9pm-7am

    i cant get any snails(or cuc) until i cycle the tank right?
    one more question
    does the tank get clearer after its cycled?

    you could probably be okay getting one or two. If you mean cuc as in cucumber I would really study that idea. Cucumber's have a very low survival rate in tanks, and if they die in the tank, they will release toxins which could wipe out everything. Its something for you to decide whether or not you want to risk them or not.
    As for snails, nassarius snails are good for sand/rock, and the turbo's are good for glass/rock. I would wait a bit though, too makes sure you have a steady diatom/algae bloom. If the algae all of a sudden stops, the algae eaters will starve.

    could they eat something else?

    For the diatoms increase flow and make sure you have flow in all of the tank, no stagnant areas. This will make it go away with a little time. IMO if your starting to see algae then as soon as ammonia goes to 0 then nitrites go up and down to 0 then nitrates go up and down get a small cleanup crew asap! Flow is the best warrior against diatoms IMO... increased/better directed flow solved my problem in no time.
