Cycling idea?

as i let my tank cycle through do i run my Protein Skimmer and GFO,Carbon reactors?

 

i just left my circulating pumps on and left everything else off including my lights. during the cycle you want all kinds of nasty things to build up so your beneficial bacteria can get established. just my opinion. those things might just prolong the cycle if utilized too early. i would start using them after your ammonia and nitrite fall back to zero.

 

I would not run any of those three. Like ford said, just run your powerheads to move the water. When i did mine I just added a piece of raw shrimp to speed things up a little bit and ran my powerheads. Once my parameters for ammonia and nitrite dropped to 0, I started my protein skimmer.

What is you use dr.tims stuff with a fish to kick off the cycle.. Would you atleast run the skimmer?
