Hi, I'm cycling my new 90 gallon tank with dry sand seeded with live sand from my other tank and 80 of fully cured live rock transfered wet from my lfs down the street. I'm just curious how long my cycle time will be and if it will be shortened because of the live rock.

Cycle time depends on each tank. Your cycle should be short since the rock was fully cured at your LFS. Test ammonia, nitrite and nitrate. The cycle is over when ammonia and nitrite are zero. It might take a couple of days before ammonia and nitrite show up.

    Hey Toby,

I recently cycled a 90 gallon in a similar way.

I tested the system after 9 days from filling and the params were 0 ammonia, 0 nitrite, 5ppm nitrate. I added my fish the next day.

But like 2in10 said, it can vary with every system, so just run the tests and you'll be fine.

I did lose a fish a few weeks later(refused to eat), so with any move, fish can have adaptation problems:-/.

your part of the nitrogen cycle you interested in may only last a couple days.
But you tank still probably won't be fully stable for months.
