    Hi guys,

I'm currently cycling my 40 gallon salt water tank with a few damsels and one of them tend to have ich, should i remove the fish from the tank right now? the other ones don't seem to have it yet or maybe it has already spread and the other ones are more healthy so they don't show? should i remove the damsel with the ich now or should i just let it be and try to let it fight off ich? i want my cycling process to be doing well and finishing as soon as possible without ich.. tank already has about 25 pounds of live rock in it and it has been cycling for a week.. let me know what i'm suppose to do with this sick fish please. thanks in advance

All tanks have Ich. You can not avoid it.
Using fish to cycle puts them under a great deal of stress, which is why, the normally hardy damsel has it.
If i was you i would just leave it. As the water quality becomes better the damsel will eventually beat the parasite by itself. Or die.

But back to my point, ich is everywhere, its on live rock its on every fish you add to the tank its in the water you take from the lfs - its simply unavoidable. You just have to really take care of your fish to ensure they are healthy enough to not get it.

+1 Next time don't cycle with fish, and you won't have this problem.

Dont bother removing your fish use a Reef Safe Ich Cure that is 100% natural and wont effect your nitrifying bacteria or kill live rock or inverts. I bought it from Amazon, here is a direct link for you: Click Here

Since the fish is already in, there isnt much you can do. Feeding food soaked in garlic can help with ick or is a good ick preventative, but for cycling its better to use live rock with some die off, or some peel and eat shrimp it does the same job as using fish without any stress, injury, or death that can happen with fish. Also if the fish do live and you decide you dont want the damsels they can be a pain to catch or if you add more fish they become very territorial and can harrass newcomers to the tank.
