cycling with shrimp question...

    So i just got my tank up n running today, and i threw a thawed out frozen shrimp in to kick start the cycle...

    I've heard to leave it in until the ammonia peaks... and then ghost feed every other day or so to avoid the stink.

    But what exactly does "peak" mean?

    Is this when it just stops getting higher?

    Or is it when it get to 8.0?(that's what my test kit reads to)
