Yes I see what you are saying and totally agree with yanking the shrimp out But when I see all the people saying to use a shrimp prawn Its seldom is it explained like you did in that it needs and should be removed . And the person looking for the instant reef feels its fine then to add what ever they want. No I won't use L/R tried that once also LOL never again. It was all the rage 15 or so yrs ago .
But today with its use it seems many are told just add 1.5 LBS of my 10.00 a lb of live rock and you can add the fish and corals tomorrow LOL I have stood in many LFS and heard this being told to a person with a smile on there face and C.C or check book in their hands LOL

But I guess that the price of the lesson LOL And all education cost something :) And Like you I keep all my old rocks and just use them as needed..The bacteria and corallines will come ..

I've seen it myself and that LFS owner got told that I would let the rest of the Saltwater Enthusiasts of St. Louis know what I just heard. They changed their ways quickly.

Yep....like you said, if people understood how bacterial populations grew and equalized, this hobby wouldn't be so hard. As far as coralline is concerned....I like it for a while and then I hate it once I have to fight it on a regular basis.

""BTW, be real careful of pointing out the flaws in another forum. I'm very good friends with both administrators and several mods on Aquarium Advice. I now hate you. JUST KIDDING!!! ;D ""

I came across that one post and I couldn't believe the crap I was reading from the people "trying" to help them out. I didn't wanna come right out and say they were all wrong. even though most of them were, lol. I just don't like it when somebody asks for help, and all these people repeat something they have heard and not experienced for theirself. I had to quit reading yesterday because I couldn't handle the idiots. I wasn't being an ass when I posted my thoughts on there.

I found a cool way to get an aggressive fish out of the tank I'm cycling. I don't know if this will work for you but it works for me. When I feed my fish, everyday I feed him in a net. After a while he'll think of the net as a good thing and as soon as I drop it in there he climbs in. So when I want to get him out he cooperates.

When I say I feed him in a net, I put the fish food in the net and drop the net in the tank.
