Hello, I am setting up a saltwater tank, and I am wondering what a good (humane) way to cycle it without fish/other living creatures would be.

I just don't want to harm any fish while cycling it.

The liverock way is the best. Rocks do not get stressed, but fish do. Even damsels have feelings!

I agree, don't use any live fish...I hate to see postings where someone decides to use(sacrafice) a fish just to cycle a tank...If you want to kick start the cycle, put a small piece of shrimp(fresh) into the tank...

You can also throw in some flakes, or some kind of fish food and let it rot.

un cured live rock is the best way. then you can add the cured rock and then your fish one at a time and you will be safe
