What Petco's are these (where are they, and how long ago did you see this) I can make some calls and get someone to go check them out. Every district is supposed to have a animal cordinator who is responsible for the well being of all the animals. If a store isn't treating the sick fish, then that is wrong. I have refused to sell about 50 Fan tail gold fish this week because one of them has a worm and all the goldfish takes cycle the same water. So far we have had only one ich breakout. But we caught it in time and treated them.

    Yeah.... Update on that.....
Went in to the store this Saturday to look at a clown fish and boy was I surprised.
I saw that there was a purple (rock I think?) anemone in a tank that had completely come off of the rock it was on and went all slimy. There were two dead fish in the tank already, one fish going belly up and various polyps/corals. I let the attendant know that they definitely had a problem on their hands and brought them to the tank to explain why and show them what was going on. They let me know they did not work in that section and wetn to grab the person that did. As I rounded the corner I heard the fish section person say that it would be fine and what did I know.

Sunday (very next day) I go in again to pick something up really quick and what do I see?? The anemone still in the tank, pieces of it falling off and yellow much coming from the middle. Fish STILL in the damned tank as well as all the other corals!!!

I have no idea what to think. I used to be really impressed with this place but let me tell you, I will not be shopping there again. The closest LFS from me (besides them) is about 30-45 minutes away and I will happily make that commute any time I need so much as a testing reagent/food/anything!

I sent out a few emails to there animal cordinator but aparently they didn't listen. I have a meeting on wednesday with my animal cordinator and she is really good. So I will print you comments and give it to her. She can then call there animal cordinator to fix it, or call there district manager and start a yelling match. I may need you to stop by there again and give me an update. They can tell me all day that they fixed it, but I can't check it myself since I am in Cali. Please keep an eye on this thread and I will let you know when it should be ok to head back there and scope things out for me. If you can please snap off some pictures and send them to me.

The problem is petco's aquatic specialist training is geared more towards fresh water, and even then all the knowledge in the world won't help if they don't care. To become a aquatic specialist, all you haft to do is read a couple tiny little books and take a 100 question test that I passed without ever reading the dumb book.

Also, you can go to Petco.com and leave customer feedback, If you make a complaint on that department it will be forwarded to there animal corrdinator, regional manager, and a few other higher ups. Be as detailed as possible, and include everything that happened when you notified the employee. They will defenetly get written up and hopefully fired. Animal neglect is supposed to be one of those no tolerance things at Petco. I know my store is that way.

Thanks for the info.... It's just disheartening and it isn't like I can take them all home to save them, lol.
