I recently added onto my sump with a rubbermaid tub and a couple of bulkheads. Three days after I did this I came home from work to find my tank under attack. Cyno has taken over the sand bed and most of the rock work. The glass would be completely filmed over if it wasnt for my turbo snails. I changed some filter floss out too and when I pulled it out the floss stunk so bad I thought I was gonna puke! The floss has only been in there 3 days and had cyno growing on it and had turned dark brown. What the heck is going on in my tank??? Mushrooms and all inverts appear very happy. Params are PH 8.2, am 0, nitrite 0, nitrate 0, phosphates 0!

It is a dry heat, yeah right !
Are you sure it is cyano and not a diatom bloom secondary to the addition of the rubbermaid tub?

No lights changed and tank has been up almost 5 months. I have been through a cyno outbreak and beat it once. But, it wasnt anywhere near this bad.

I should also note my skimmer is putting out junk more than usual. Lots of it in the last 2 or 3 days.

Ryland can you post a picture?

Has the flow to the tank changed in that it is decreased secondary to placement/plumbing to the new sump?

If I am reading your question correctly....yes the flow from the sump has decreased. Originally I had a 1350 gph return pump in my sump. This proved too much as I could not get micro bubbles under control. I switched to a 800 gph return pump about the same time I added onto my sump with the rubbermaid container. I could go back to the larger pump but it would take some more motifications.
