ok guys here goes,the contents of this tank are:brown gorgonia,montipora,pagoda,3 feather dusters,13 pcs of frogspawn,2pcs of hammer,cinnamin zooanthid,electric scallop,4'' crocea clam,2 pcs sinnulara,very lg metallic fuzzy mushroom,2 pcs brown/green zooanthid,7'' squamosa clam,2 lg devils finger leather,stripped mushroom,3 pcs cabbage leather,4''derasa clam,2 pcs lg green star,green spot zooanthid,2 pcs speckled leather,very lg encrusting gorgonia,1 barnacle,elephant ear mush,red mush,pimpled mush,kenya tree,branch leather,porites,crown leather,rusty zooanthid,pavona,undulating striped mush,many feather dusters that just grew,encrusting sponge. fish are:6 lined wrasse,clarkii clown,indian ocean sailfin tang,scopas tang,pallet tang,yellow tang,tazmanian devil damsel,bi color blenny,comet,lawn mower blenny,sailfin blenny,flame angel,saron shrimp,2 cleaner shrimp,pair coral banded shrimp,blood shrimp,australian spotted watchman goby,lg pistol shrimp,strawberry crab,san sebastion hermit. equipment:double box wet dri,30 gal sump,18 gal sump fill,hair curlers for bacteria media,berlin skimmer,18w turbo twist uv,electronic float switch,filtronics coiled denitrator,techlima1/4 horse chiller,6 165 watt vho 3 blue 3 white,21 led moon lights in banks of 3,ph monitor,titaninum ground probe,2 scwds(1 on chiller 1 on main pump,main pump is quiet one 5000,skimmer pump is surge 6000,chiller/uv pump is a ca 2200, alk a cal doser,whewwwwww and now i am broke.

That's a great looking tank - with a wet/dry filter!
How long has the tank been up again?
Did you add the filtronics coiled denitrator in the beginning or down the road?
What were your nitrates before/after?

very cool tank. how long has it been up?

 

its been up for 9 years,it started as a 55 gal,then went to a 100 gal, then finally a 125, its been a 125 for 6 years. the coiled denitrator has been on from the begining, the nitrates went from over a 100 ppm to where they do not even register on a test kit, the coiled denitrator(here after known as cd )cycled for about 6 months before it did anything but once it started working,man i consider it one of the most important parts of my tank.the substrate is arrigonite coral about 3/4 of an inch thick.no plenum,no refugium,no dsb.readings are:ammonia 0,nitrates 0 trites 0 calcium varies between 350 and 450 ppm (i dose kalk and use arragimilk)temp: 76 to maybe 78 when its really hot, i also use dt's invert food.

 

That's wild. Always wondered about denitrators.
Congrats on having a tank going that long too. It's great!
