    Hello
I cycle my tank with a yellow tail damsel and now 6 week later I bought 2 clown fish. I just put in my clown fish and the damsel is nipping at them.
I moved some rocks around and that only work for 10 minutes and he keeps going back to bug them

    Anything else I should try?
I kind of would like to keep the damsel but if there's nothing else i can do i will take him back to the store.

    Any suggestion???

You will most likely end up taking the damsel back. Then again after a week or so things will settle down. Clowns are tough customers and can probably handle the harassment with no problems. The clowns will do the same thing to any other fish you add later.

Soda bottle works better for inverts. You put food in it and when the animal goes inside you pull the bottle out.

You may need to pull your rock out to get the little bugger.

Not necessarily, depending on what you add and what kind of clowns they are. If they're percs or occelaris, they won't really bother much that you put in. It's when you have maroons that I hear people have problems.

You can take the top of the soda bottle, flip it inside out, and put some food inside. The damsel goes in for the food, you get the bottle out.

The trick to the soda bottle is cutting the top off then sticking it back on upside down. So you have a big opening slowly going to a small exit inside the bottle. Kinda hard to explain. Search 3reef for it, there are a couple threads that show you how to make this.

damsel catching is an art! took me about 6 hours in total between three attempts to catch 3 damsels in my 75gal :(

one damsel took the bait on the bottle method. the other two did not, and i had to pull my rockscape to get em out.

ill never cycle with damsels, or any fish for that matter in the future...

oh, and when i added my true perc clown the YT damsel of the three was the calmest. i guess it just depends on their level of aggression. a talbot damsel however beat the crap out of the true perc the second i introduced it.

i've learned that its easiest to just leave the net in the tank and wait for the fish to get close to it. usually theres no need to move the rocks at all, unless its a psycho fish.
