Damsel Problems...

Alot of people use Damsels to cycle because they are very hardy fish and can stand alot of abuse and variable water conditions. We'll probably get flamed for this but it seems totally inhumane to use a fish just to start a cycle, then complain that they are in there beating up all of the other tank mates. They are known to be aggressive, thats just what they do, but they are very cheap and hardy which is why people use them for such purposes. Adding a bigger more aggressive fish to calm them down just turns the aggressive behaviour in the direction of the damsels. Seems like alot of people have the same issue regarding damsels. Just return them to the store and see it as a lesson learned. They dont deserve to die or be mistreated just because they are cheap and boost your cycle.

 

use the "inverted soda bottle trick" to catch him. it takes some time compared to the "flush him out and corner him with your left hand while the right hand swoops the net method", but it always works if you are patient. just google how to catch a fish with a soda bottle, and remember to glue, (not tape, the tape spooks them), the top of the soda bottle to the rest when you invert it...sounds strange but when you see what it is it makes sense quickly.

Ya, I knew about not using a Damsel, after I had the Damsel in. What's weird is he never bothers my Dragonet...?
