Damsel staying in a hole and not eating nor coming out

    I bought a yellow tail damsel and it stays in a hole in LR, dosent come out nor eats. its been 3 days. i just have a pair of Oc. clowns....

    It could be that he's just shy since you just introduced him.

    well it was roaming around on day 1, after that, it never came out. i can just see him moving his fins in the hole..... i tried feeding him, but it dint eat, so i target fed some plankton as they love it. still nothing....

    Agreed- it is not uncommon for a new fish to take up to a week to start feeding.

    I wouldn't risk water quality by throwing extra food at him. He'll come out and eat when hunger outweighs his shyness/fear.

    Yeah I agree, just give it some time. If nothing changes then there might be a problem.

    mine is a little bull dog...has its moments with territory..any new arrivals or moves in rock work..he finds a hole and re claims it...I wouldnt worry too much...great little fish, I have 4 different Damel flavors..love them....hearty fish. : )

    ya funny cause my domino was a terror in my old 47 then i moved to a 55 and now all he/she does is hide. before that my other fish were to afraid to eat. im trying to say damsel are a very funny fish when it comes to territory just give him/her time and he will eat
