Hi, I just got a new long tentacle plate coral. It seems pretty happy with where I placed it on the sand bed. My domino damsel seems to have taking a liking to it, and it looks like he's been trying to host it. Is this OK for the coral? Also it seems to have kinks in some of its tentacles is this normal?

They can be damaging to coral. I have a pair that have been rough on a number of corals (Green Star Polyps, Tubastrea, Goniopora, Parazoanthus, etc). You just have to watch and see if the coral is hurt long-term.

With your Helofungia, you might see stings on the fish as well.

Is there anything I can really do to keep the damsel away from it? Personally I wanna get rid of the fish but he's such a pain to catch.

if I wanted to catch a fish in that scenario, this is what I would try

lift the plate coral and place a plastic plate or even ceramic plate under it ( try to avoid mentioning this to your mum or your wife, or my wife for that matter LOL?)

you also need a large enough net of fine mesh that will cover the coral

when the fish is settled in the coral
carefully lower the net over the coral and the plate ( the fishes instincts will be to try and go deeper into the coral for protection)

once you have covered coral, fish and plate, lift everything out of the aquarium

then place the coral, back into the aquarium minus the fish and the plate

I have used that method, with clown fish and a torch coral they annoyed the heck out of

On a side note I have read and seen that Domino damsels are one of the few that anemones allow to host. +1 to Steve's idea. It might work.

Thanks I never thought of doing anything like that. I'll give it a shot and let you know how it goes.
