I bought a clown fish today and when i put him into the tank my yellow damsel went nuts. He chases the clown fish around the tank and biting at him. I never planed on keeping the damsels but I didnt think they would be an issue with the clown fish. I want to remove him from the tank but as of right now I do not have a seperate tank to put him into until the morning when I can take him to the lfs. Any suggestions on what to do? I dont want him killing my 20 dollar clown fish ya know? Will he survive in a tuberware container over night? Thanks

If you can take out the damsel it would be a good start to a nice looking stock..Damsels are pretty aggressive fish, i normally will suggest them to people first starting a smaller tank so they can have something in there, then once they figure out their initial fish stock, i will tell them to take it out of the tank.

Gahh um, sorry to hear, If you get a bucket and put your tank water into it, if you could keep it heated some how and every once in a while put some water from ur system into it, it should be good till the morning?

It might require moving rock work. Or try luring it with food, :)

You can drain the tank to where there is about 5 inches of water in the tank and do it like that.

Yeah you have to remove all rock work to get those little bastards out...lol

I always go with Chromis or tank bred clownfish to help cycle the tank so I don't have to hassle with removing them down the road.

Dont cycle with live animals - not necessary and cruel IMO.

They may survive - but at what cost?
