This is a really good idea actually. You're both in Florida right? Have you checked out his beautiful set up he is selling Dane?

Extremely tight fit for the 29 gallon sump. About 1mm on each side.

Will be painting the interior and starting the skin on Thursday. Also the hole saw bits and bulkheads should be delivered Thursday. More to come.

Welcome to 3reef from another Floridian :) I'll be following this build.

Just a side note, you may want some supports on the stand, since the tank will be about 400 pounds after it's all set up.

Just finished a 60 gallon with a VERY similar footprint, of all the reef aquariums I have built, it's by far the most fun. If you go DSB, they will hold about 120lbs of LS to cover up to 5 inches. I used only 45 lbs of rock, 29 Gallon sump with x-large CPR refuge, 150 Reef Octopus (damn good skimmers), 3 10,000k T-5 HO's. 3 20,000k with good reflectors. About 3 1/2 watts per gallon on a 14" water column. Bright as a mirror on the open ocean. 2 1050 Hydor's with wave machine on/off every 30secs, one pump at night at half speed. I reverse photo my macro/mangrove sump. Dose Kalk almost 24/7, plus Purple Up every other day for trace. dKH is 11, Ca 475-550, constant ph of 8.3. This is four months in a it will grow any SPS out with crazy color. I introduced 5 large brown Acro. sp. 3/ from same mother colony neon green, 1 is bright purple, 1 pale yellow with blue tips, 1 is light pink with red tips. If you are going to do a DSB, make sure your scape has a lot of overhangs for the less light loving corals you will be keeping in a mixed reef. Good luck!
