Thanks for the tips. Sounds like you have a nice tank. Are you going to start a thread?

    Update with pics

Today I painted the interior and top of the stand with a sealer/primer and drilled the overflow. I was planning on finishing up the stand today but suddenly became unsure of exactly how I want it finished. So I will think about it for a week and move on to my sump.

I will be ordering a Eheim Compact 2000 return pump and a Reef Octopus 4" pinwheel protein skimmer tomorrow. If anybody has any better options for me please let me know.

Made a template to help drill. Went ok, I got some small chipping on the inside. I believe this was due to using a CHEAP bit. I will silicone the chips and let it dry before installing the bulk head.

Its been awhile since I've updated my build. I have been busy with my newborn girl. ;D I have made some progress and should be plumbing my overflow tomorrow. My reefcleaners rock will be here tomorrow as well.

I will add some pictures tomorrow when the clear coat is done drying and I can actually close the doors.

Custom made overflow box that I drilled for my beananimal overflow. Thanks to gl*******s.com!!! Can't say how happy I am with how this came out and the price. Service and product are both outstanding!!

Need a refractometer. Can anybody recommend one with a decent price?

Sump looks great, nice work! For a refractometer, I bought a generic one from either DF&S or BRS. I think it was between $50-60. I calibrate it every time with 35PPT solution. No issues at all after 14 months of use.

Thanks Marshall! Will check out BRS for a refractometer.

Rock came in today from reef cleaners. Really nice rock, even with all the hype it is better than what I expected. Hope to have water in the tank by Friday.

Having trouble with the aquascape. What do you all think? I plan on adding about 5-10 more pounds of live rock.

Rock looks fine, I would use the other 5-10 lbs to join them both with a bridge between

The rock on the top left worries me a little. From the angle you took, it looks like it would not take much to knock it over. I like your structure on the right though. Maybe make a cave that you can see into on the left?
