Well, the GF and I had to go to WalMart to buy some stuff and we decided to stop at Petco on the way home since they get stuff in on Tues and Thurs here. I looked in the coral tanks and saw acans and other not so normal corals for Petco. As I walked to the end of the fish tanks, I saw 5 fish that caught my eye. I take a closer look and see 4 femal Lyretail Anthias and 1 male Lyretail Anthias. I said no way, and looked for prices. At $18 each I was intrigued. I asked Brian, a guy who has a nice tank and works in the fish area, to turn the lights on and to feed them for me. All the fish looked healthy, but they did not go for the pellet food Petco offers them. However, they did go for it. I figured they wanted to eat, but they wanted meaty foods. I decided to buy the male, two females, and 3 ferret toys all for $65.

I brought them home and acclimated them for a while. I am not a fan of the drip acclimation method, so they got a nice long temp acclimation. The GF and I then went to the new China Buffet, which was awesome for you Morgantown people, and Lowes.

I got home and threw a cube of cyclops in the tank and they did not go for it, that I saw that is. however, two of the three were out and swimming about in the 2 hours we were gone. I saw all three out about 15 minutes ago and decided to throw another cube of cyclops in the tank. They devoured the cyclops. I am thrilled, but still a nervous about them.

    I'll post pics tomorrow.

Just a warning that they can be quite aggressive towards one another. LA recommends a tank of 125 gallons because of their activity level and temperaments. They will often kill of one another. Just a warning! Just wanted you to know because I was surprised at how mean mine can be LOL.

Good start that they are already eating. Good luck with them!!!

Very nice... I love Lyretails. I would have snagged all of them though.

I love anthias. They always have really cool coloring. Great deal, Xmetal. I hope they do well in your tank. Can't wait for the pics!

Those acans look super tiny and gross though don't they!

Nice find, hope they are good in your tank.

    Great fish!

They seriously need some big tanks.

My one female killed 3 additional females that I added to the tank and the male never ate. and died. But they are so neat to watch!

I didnd't get to see what they looked like The lights were off.

As far as care for the anthias. Thank you the concerns, but this was not a spur of the moment purchase. I had been wanting to try anthias one more time after my last two. Whom started off great, then suddenly stopped eating after about a month.

I feed my fish two to 3 times a day as it is so feeding won't be an issue. As for space, I created a large amount of hidden caverns and tunnels behind the visible rockwork. I am hoping that this will keep them occupied. When it came to aggression with my other two, I never saw any.

I hope it all works out well.
