It is now day 4 since I got my clownfish. He still doesn't have an appetite. Today, insteat of floating the flake food, I put my fingers in the tank then released so that they moved in the water. He ate 1 tiny tiny flake. Every time he goes to the other ones he will nip at it, then air bubbles come out and he will spit it out. :p What kind of food should I use??? Do you guys have any tips to get your fish to eat! Darn thing!

I would suggest trying a variety of foods such as pellets and/or frozen foods. Soaking in garlic extract is a great tip posted by Missionsix that may work for you. Try turning off your pumps temporary during feedings so it will be easier to target feed.

Clowns are not typically known to be finicky feeders like some others. It may not be eating either due to it's current health or it's environment. A sick fish (outward symptoms are not always there) will have a depressed appetite. Less than optimum water quality or competition from tank mates will stress out the fish and may also result in a loss of appetite. That's why a separate QT is always recommended but I know not everyone can accommodate something like that.

With that said, try feeding everything you can get your hands on but feed only one or two thing at a time so you can see what it will eat. You already mentioned flakes so other options are pellets, all the frozen stuff out there, and also live brine or blackworms. Once you find a particular food it likes, keep feeding that until it's healthy and fat, then try introducing others along with it's favorite to vary it's diet. That's the general scheme I follow whenever I get new fish but they get to chill out in their own QT without competition. Good luck.

It is ok to take garlic powder and put it in water? Then soak the flakes in the water? Would that work?

The problem with using garlic powder is that it's not as concentrated as the liquid garlic extract that's sold for aquarium use. Also, I am not too keen on the idea of putting solids into a tank that's not likely to be consumed. It's best just to cough up the extra money for a bottle instead of introducing something that may affect the water quality.
