Time to start the build thread.

    Standard 10g
    4 bulb t5ho
    custom DIY overflow wall
Acuaclear 70 or 110(not purchased yet) HOB fuge mod
Kent marine reactor ( for carbon and mechanical filtration)
    Annnnd a MP10 for flow

Probably going sps with this one.
Should I go Bare Bottom or sand bed?
With the mp10 I might have to much flow for sand.

I'm picking up my lights today and within a week I should have it running.

I would either go bare bottom or some larger particle sand.

    Sounds like an awesome project.

Yes it should be interesting lol

I was all for BB but then after some research and looking at pics the only thing I don't like is how coraline grows on the bottom glass. It looks to dirty for me. But I don't wann regret putting sand in either. Its a toss up.

I would use some form of substrate. I personally dont like the look of bare bottom tanks, but I have also seen many that can pull it off. Maybe some crushed coral would be a nice alternative to the finer grained sand. But its your call, just my two cents. :)

I have had problems before with crushed coral substrate and nitrates. For me its not a option. plus this is only a 10g so I'm going to have to contol nitrates more than a larger tank would. I'm thinking reef grade sand. I just hope the mp10 isn't going to make a sandstorm. I guess I could dial it back if it does though.

Picked up my lights a minute ago on lunch. I got a fishneedit.com fixture from a LFS. A lot of people run these fixtures around here. Even the store uses them. They are pretty nice for the money. Should be able to grow sps with some ati bulbs

Lights on. A lot brighter in person.
I can't use the legs that came with the fixture because the cabinet above it is about a 1/4 inch short.
I guess ill just have to run it like this.

So a slight problem with where the tank is. The counter in the kitchen seems to have a slight bump in the middle where the tank would be. It gives the tank a very small teeter effect from left to right. Nothing huge but enough to make me wonder about it.

Is there something I can put under the tank to make this go away? I was thinking a styrafoam sheet but I think it would look awful sitting under the tank with nothing to hide it. Suggestions?

Styro sheet with skirting, maybe some 2x4. Amazon Stingrays did this with their coral tanks
