i was told that bashsea had issues with the nw pump they were using with thier first generation skimatic, they have since moved on and only use sicce pumps on them now. i have two of thier skimmers and they kick major azz!! the blu demon is just amazing. i wish i had one of their biofuges, i built my own, but it looks pretty sad!!

Sweet setup, looking good. I'm in the process of my 65 gallon build right now. Just one question.

Do you think the MP 40 is too big for the 65 or not? Did you have to keep it dialed down? I noticed it looked like it did some "sand rearrangement" in one of your pics. I was debating on the MP 10 when I get mine up and running and supplementing with some nano powerheads in the dead spots.

I had an mp10 on my 55, I think from a cost sandpoint an MP10 is better. Its perfectly sized, plus it pushes 1800gph.

Yeah thats kind of what I was thinking. The price jump from the 10 to the 40 is pretty significant. I was leaning towards building an Arduino based wave timer and using some Koralias, but by the time I buy all the parts, it probably wont be THAT far off from an MP10, and I like the low profile of the Vortechs

Def do the 40. This thing kicks water. With my return and that I won't need anything additional.
The sand moving was from when I had the tank only 3/4 full. I was making more water so I put the mp40 in while I was waiting. It was pretty low in the tank so it blew some sand around. I can turn it all the way up now with no issues.
Trust me do the 40. You will love it.

You don't have any dead spots behind your rockwork or anywhere in the tank? Once your tank gets cycled and u start stocking it, MORE PICS PLEASE!

Pic from today. This is my view from the kitchen table while I'm eating lunch. Nice way to relax from work for a hour.

Rocks starting to get some color. Looks like the brown frown diatom bloom is about to wreck havoc for a bit.
