Ya my 2x6 is across the span of about 5 joists. Luckly the way the joists are and where my tank is worked out great.
Its not the prettiest thing you've seen but it does a hell
    of a job.
I have no idea if its to code. I didn't really care lol

I see what you mean. So..how are you going to do it? Supporting the tank, I mean.

Well, I have some of those jack posts in my basement. Been there for at least 20 years before I moved in but the inspector doesn't want to hear it. SO, I have my brother, who is a mason, coming over to help me build a 8-10 foot block wall to hold up the floor joists where those jack posts are. This requires the whole thing I was talking about earlier (cutting out the floor and pouring a footing on the bedrock). While he's here I'll have him help me do a little block wall where the stand is going to be. It just has to be long enough to catch 3 floor joists so it won't be too much more than we are already set to do. It's either that or wait several months (until I no longer need the inspector looking in my basement at the current project I'm working on) to put the tank up so I can just do the 4x4's like DBOSHIBBY did with his floor. It all depends on how fast I can finish the laundry room so I can get the final approval from the inspector (and get him out of my hair).

Wow that sounds like a huge PITA. For that much work, I would just wait until the dudes not there anymore.

Is it me, or are the ones I circled different than the rest? They look exactly like some Palys I currently have in my QT.
