"Bleached" is not the same as dead.

I can recall many years ago when you could buy dead coral for decoration as Mr.Bill said,at one time, they even sold huge dead colonies that were dyed in about every color under the rainbow.I myself had two large colonies that were blue and the other was red, along with fake coral and plastic plants.Never had coralline take over either as many didn't have coralline in the tank to start with nor the lighting we use today.

Those are really nice pieces, shadyzee. Love your scape, too. :)

In the context of this thread ("bleached" = dead skeleton cleaned with Clorox or a similar bleach product), yes, a bleached dead SPS is most definitely dead. :D

Maybe not. Not with all those dead corals he's been using as decoration.;)

    Memories...lol

Never really got into the dyed ones myself, but I did prefer a "full" tank. While dead coral deco might not be so popular locally, it's still available. :)

Looks good, the scape should be great for corals and to keep your fish happy.

You're taking me back a good ways Mr.Bill,if I recall correctly,I bought one colony at a yard sale and the other I bought at an old lfs and they wern't very cheap, they were large sps (of some type, acros i'd guess) but I did have others that were just white deco along with barnacles as they were cheap. And dolomite was the substrate of choice with the ugf,the floating hydrometer and no internet.Ahhhh...memories,lol.
