    I'm really leaning toward the salinity. One of my books ... :

    "Often , totally inexplicable deaths of corals and other invertebrate animals, along with the fishes themselves, can be attributed to the inaccuracies of this instrument."

    They're talking about the hydrometer. 1.026 I think may have been a little too high.
    Hard to really tell for sure.
