The other day I came home from being gone for a week and one of my clown fish was missing, after searching I found pieces of it being eaten by my CUC. My other clown fish has white spots on it, but i have not seen it rubbing on things, or with a slime on it either. My Royal Gamma I have noticed really hiding more than usual and it appears to be breathing heavily near the bottom. My 6 line wrasse and Pajama Cardinal appear to be ok. I took a water sample to my LFS on sat and all readings were ok except 10PPM of Nitrates. and a high level of phosphates i did a 10 gallon salt water change. What could be causing this? And what can i do to help my fish? is there anything i can do directly in the DT without hurting my corals? I dont have a QT.

it could be a diease that came into the tank or just a spike in the water. I use "Kordans Ich Attack." It is not used with copper and i have used it several times with my fully stocked 70 gal reef. You should definetly try that. Raise the temperature and that will make the life cycle of the ich go by a lot faster too!!!

It is a dry heat, yeah right !
Please provide a picture of infected fish if possible.

Most likely causes Marine Ich or Brookynella.

If the spots look like grains of salt most likely Marine Ich. The treatment for both can be very detailed so an correct ID is important.

Nothing you can buy over the counter that you add directly to the display is going to treat either one, so do not waste your money.

Sounds as though you may need a QT/hospital tank.

Millions of dollor of fish are lost each year to marine ich, if there was a simple remedy, believe me the industry would be first in line.

Just because your fish no longer exhibit the visual signs of ich does not mean it is not present. If you had an out break of ich in your system and did not treat it, it is still there.

There are three ways to treat ich.

    1. Hyposalinity
    2. Copper
    3. Foramlin

Formalin will treat both ich and brookynella, but is extremely toxic to fish with open wounds even lower levels.
