I trusted my room mate to take care of my fish as i left last week for buisness. Come home to my suprise all the fish are alive and well. Today i come home i find one of the heaters shorted out an had smoke coming out of the top of it and makeing a hideous smell. Corals were pulled in, and clown fish an six line wrase at bottom of tank in distress. I removed heater, did all the water test found amonia has spiked. Added the amoniia lock, changed the filter element. Made a sock an filled with charcoal an submerged in first sump of my Bio Cube, to help remove toxins. have done a 5 gallon water change, on 30 gallon tank. hammer coral and frog spawn have opend up now. zoos buttons are all still closed. and 2 clown fish and 6 line wrase still on sand bottom in distress. Yellow tang and black domino Damsle seem ok at this time. Any other sugestions on what to do.

Good reaction, might consider another water change and increasing you flow to get more oxygen into tank.

just make sure not to rush the water changes and do them slowly to keep the fish from undergoing more stress. i think that is the best you can for now, +1 to handling it well.

How does your Tang do in your tank? How long have you had it in there and how big is it?
Hope all the rest come out of the distress there in now!!
