I took out my live rock from my other tank that I tore down do to digitate hydroids and had it in buckets with no water and lids on them for about a month or more. I just filled them with fresh RO water and letting it sit till Sunday. Do you think I have killed any possible hitch hikers mainly the hydroids. I just want to make sure they are dead and gone. I did not want to use any bleach so that's why I am asking. I know the bleach probably wont hurt anything but I don't want to take any chances.

You could smear kalk paste over the hydroids. From what I've been told, that should kill them.

That didn't work nor did super glue. I just want to make sure I killed off my live rock and hitchhikers the way I have done it.

If you don't want to bleach, I would boil the rock just to make sure. I am no expert on this subject.....I had to look up exactly what you were talking about. Then the google search that turned up a lot of questions but no real answers. So that is my two cents. Personally, I would turn to bleach first. As long as you rinse well, there will be no problems. I wash my filter socks with a dab of bleach followed by two rinse cycles twice weekly and have had no problems.

I had a problem once that was similar, I soaked the rocks in an extremely high salinity ro solution. It killed everything and didn't take long at all...
