The Ideal colour temp for growing algae is around 5500. For the majority of my time in the reef hobby I ran 6500K bulbs with no algae issues. I actually loved the 6500K bulbs and a lot of coral farms still use them. Great PAR. It has only been over the last 5 or 6 years that higher K bulbs have really taken off. Mainly due to the advancement in driving the high K bulbs to acceptable PAR levels.

I would take a water sample into your LFS just to double check your water to ensure your test kits are still good.
It is possible the O2 levels have dropped but with all the algae in the tank I would not think that would be the cause. As it is creating O2 when the lights are off.
I would stay on track with your water changes and be patient. Algae comes on fast but takes a long time to get ride of. It looks like you are doing everything you can to correct the problem.
Also I don't believe switching salt is necessary IO is a tried and true salt. It may not have the best CA and ALK levels but it not a salt that will contribute to your problem.
I am concerned about your denitrator. These devises are great when running properly. If not they can be deadly.

    Good Luck

Hmm... 3:08AM - who needs sleep - Or a job - Wouldn't you rather save a clown fish? lol.

I heard reports from the feeding member of my family that my fish didn't eat tonight...

I got home late but hearing that, I decided to do a quick water change just incase. While the bucket filled I did a chemical check and suprise, suprise the chemicals popped some definite ammonia reading around .25. So having just got done doing a three gallon water change... I'm now waiting for the buckets to fill again and change out another 6 gallons of water :(

oh, and here's my chemicals spreadsheet, just cause...

(its excel2003 but I had some issues opening it at work on Office07 so hopefully it doesn't kill all my pretty charts for you guys...)

Just wanted to sort of bring this thread to a close and thank everybody who helped...

So far nemo is still kicking and his eye is definitely getting better now.

Though I still have a metric-crap-ton of algae growing it seems to have shifted from the brown GHA looking stuff to more of a pure cyano so hopefully that is a good sign that the GFO is starting its uptake.

The little guy definitely looks lonely now though :-/
