Hello, on Wednesday I put a McCoskers wrasse in my 75. Only other fish are a false percula clown and a dimond watchman goby. Well, that Wednesday night he was eating and swimming around. Thursday morning he was eating and swimming around, then a few hours later he was gone. I have not seen him since Thursday morning. But just tonight I found him under a rock. I can see his reflection. I don't know if he's dead or alive. From what I can see of him, his tail looks pale whitish and the rest of him looks a little pale pink. I can't see his fave and I don't know if I'm looking at his back or belly.

I've been told wrasses can hide for days on end. But, do you think I should poke him or give him a few more days? Oh and all my crabs are ignoring him. Wouldn't they be all over him if he were dead? I do have a skimmer, I just don't want him to pollute my tank.

It is a dry heat, yeah right !
    Leave him be.

He would have been mostly consumed by now if he was dead.

One smaller dead fish in a fully cycled tank will not crash it.

If you disturb him and he is alive you stress the wrasse out, if it's dead there is nothing you can do now and it will not compromise the water quality unless it's a large wrasse in a small tank newly set up.

Wrasses hide and pick off pods.

Thank yous! I don't have any pods in my tank. I made all the rock years ago and pods have yet to get into my DT.

FYI - if the lights are out, then it already made its mucous cocoon for the night. They look very different while covered in this. And yes, they can hide for a few days before coming out.
