    Hello-

so when I built my new tank I decided to shell out the cash for a Super Reef Octopus skimmer with the new bubble blaster pump.

3 months into the skimmers life span the pump dies. I took it apart to find that the magnet/ impeller has been worn thin in the middle by something leaving a white residue. There are also cracks in the magnet itself with rust spots around it.

I contacted CoralVue, and they said I was well within the warranty and so I shipped the pump off to them...

3 months in and the stupid skimmer is dead...

How long can my tank survive without a skimmer? I have a 29 gallon DT with a 20 gallon sump/fuge. I have about a dozen corals, medium size CuC with 2 shrimp, and 1 lonely gramma.

Are there steps I can take to limit the waste produced other then the feeding schedule?

You might be able to make due for a couple of weeks with such a low bioload. Maybe see if you can find a cheap skimmer on Craigslist to tide you over.

It is a dry heat, yeah right !
You have plenty of time to have the skimmer repaired and returned. One lonely royal gramma is not going to adversely affect the system if you run it without a skimmer. No worries.

Agreed^^ I wouldn't worry about it. I would just maybe do a water change during the time your skimmer is being repaired and you'll be ok. Problems with a reef octo? First time I've heard of this. Hope it all works out and Coralvue take care of you!
