    I'm using 205 xternal canister filter in a 47 rectangular and I don't think there's
enough movement . I have some brown on my sand which i guess is diatom.
So i was thinking maybe i need a secondary pump and if so what would be good to use that wouldn't be too much movement? Thanks for any help

Just use a powerhead. Diatom on sand is normal.

If this is a new tank set up diatoms on the sand is very normal. If yout cannister is your only source for water flow a powerhead or two would be a good addition, especially if you would like to add corals.

Hydor Coralias or Maxi Jets. The new Maxi Jets work as pumps or powerheads and are VERY affordable.
