My toadstools polyps have not come out now in about a week. I think its pretty hard though to kill a toadstool but I do have a brain favia that has had its polyps touch the toadstool and chew up one side of it. Are their signs to look for if the toadstool would die? Also It does not look like its shedding it skin.

my toadstool just looked like that..and my rose BTA had stung it and there is now 2 holes in the toadstool. I have moved it and it is now starting to open up its polyps and is looking better

Toadstools do that for some reason IMO, they look like they die and then they come back fine.

Mine's been closed for over a month. I've moved it to several different positions since I set this tank up in June. Everything else I have is fine. Who knows!!!!!!:-/

need to add....mine's got brown on the top of it and the little crabs are chowing down.....

The only problem with moving him is he is attached. I could rip him off but he would really be stressed then.

mine died, but it was right after I brought it home, looked like that though, but i had other corals doing well and the water tested fine so I dunno, ill definitely be waiting a while before i buy another toadstool though, that was in my nano though which is tore down at the moment, maybe you could move the rock or break off the piece with the leather and move it...

My LFS said that you could actually cut thier trunk with scissors. My toadstool is stuck too.
He said that it should be fine and for every cut you make, you should begin to get new growth.

By the way, it still looks like it is standing straight up, that a good sign. Mine sheds alot lately. Sometimes it doesnt look like its losing skin right away but after a day or two you can start to see skin lifting. When I see this, I try to direct my powerhead to it, to help blow off the shedding skin

I have some yellow toadstools that sometimes go a couple days without extending polyps, while others in the tank do... I'd just keep an eye on it but it's probably fine.

I have a devils finger leather that I have now had for six months and still no polyps. People say it takes a couple weeks for them to come out after you get them. I'm wondering if mine ever will!
