Whoa, now I'm confused. I think some of the posters on this thread understand that everything I saw, is BASE ROCK- be it dead coral skeletons, or some other kind of rock- it ain't live rock, not yet anyways.

Live rock at a lfs near me is 10 dollars a pound, I've seen it at another for about 6 bucks- LIVE rock, with bacteria, and corralline algae- all puplish and stuff.

1 dollar a pound for base rock, is a great deal, inclucing shipping even better.

Yes, I think you got a good deal. But unless it's wet, slimy gooey rock, it's base rock. It becomes live when you make it that way. Seed it with a small piece of corralline rock, and in 4-6 months, your DT is full of it!

8.99 a pound, for dry base rock? wow

And yes, the rock pictured will make great live rock one day.

I agree. Just add a few pounds of live rock and you'll be all set! :)

Todd, I believe that everyone knows that I was talking about DRY rock and not LIVE rock. I have been researching on my area and online. For live rock, I can get $2/lbs. Yes, they're live rock and not dry or base rock.

My plan for my project is to get dry rock and seed them. I have never found dry rock, till this weekend. The cheapest dry rock (base rock) is BRS saver rock which is $2.50/lbs. I couldn't even find anything $1/lbs for base rock.

Now that I know that I can use them for my base rock, then I know for sure that I got an amazing deal. Even if $1/lbs, it would've been $500.
