I was sitting here thinking about my Purple Dottyback, which jumped to impending doom. I have a normal hood on my tank with a few gaps and did not ever think I would lose a jumper through one, but I did sadly. I found Purplefish behind the tank after being missing for a week. Such a sad day.

Anyway, how many of you have had a fish jump to its death, or near death? Let's hear your story.

I had a diamond Goby in my old tank which jumped through one of the holes in the eggcrate cover. He then shimmied flat on top if it between the eggcrate and the t5ho fixture sitting 1/2 above and was baked. I looked for him for a couple days before I found him there. Same fish jumped out previous to that when i had no cover but i was luckily there and grabbed him and put him back in. I thought the eggcrate would keep him contained, i was wrong.

    Thats sad, sorry.

My old 55g was covered with egg crate on the top to help prevent jumpers...it didn't help much with my firefish. The fish tried committing suicide 4 times, the fourth time she succeeded, I found her on my carpet behind the tank.

I highly recommend a mesh cover to prevent jumpers from getting out

I lost a long nose hawkfish a while back. Royal gramma chased him right out of the tank.

Speaking of which I couldn't find my solorensis wrasse last night. Didn't see him on the floor though.

I hope he turns up, inside the tank that is.
