I would use ro.../di if you can...also, you might want to switch to a quality flake food, like prime reef and cut back on the feedings for the fish everyother day a minimul pinch... Less Bio(poop) load that way=less bad stuff. The fish won't starve! Target feed what you need to(corals). There are others more knowledgeable about that, then I am, so, I'll let them handle that....

For your size of tank you are finished with fish, if you add anymore you will be doomed. Corals don't add to your bioload but fish do. With ammonia at 0.25 I would think you are going to go through a mini cycle again or it's from the dead fish. My hubby has a 20g and he has only 3 fish.

I would recommend a skimmer, and doing weekly water changes regularly. With small tanks it's important to have a small bioload and to do regular maintenance. At this point don't add anything more, test your ammonia and nitrites regularly for a while and let the tank stabalize. Go slow.

Oh ya, you may want to change your feeding habits. Feed frozen food as a treat and stick to feeding every other day with flake food. When you do feed frozen food, soak the food in water, then dump the water in the drain and feed the food only. This helps limit the phosphates that are used in preservatives entering your tank.

Thank you, thank you, thank you to everyone and opinions. I need help getting the feeds straight. I should only use frozen shrimp as a treat and use a qualily flake food every other day for feedings? What about the corals? The fish store told me to target feed the corals everyday with frozen shrimp and liquid phytoplankton. Is this correct? How many drops of liquid food? I have bubble coral, fragment of mushroom coral, hammer head coral, open brain, and 2 others I am not sure of name. Can anyone recommend a good flake food to use and name of skimmer to buy. I also need to know how much current should be running thru my tank. I have one powerhead.

the corals u mentioned do not ncessarily need feeding since they have symbiotic algae and will do ok with a moderate lightning, good news for u since feeding them will make ur water worse, just pay big attention to ur ammonia and nitrite, ammonia is lethal, it's like drinking ur own pee :D ur live rock will take time to cure so u will really have to be patient before getting fish, i have 90 us gallons and i've managed to live with two tiny damsels for almost a year now, good luck.
