for my 125, i used exactly (1) 5 gallon bucket filled completely to the top with sand to get a 2-2.5" sand bed. it was heavy as hell to move, but it wasn't no 220 lbs. maybe more like 120.

As for salt I like to get either the reefcrystals 160 gallon bucket or the 200 gallon box. Both are great deals for the money.

Sand i think it is personal taste but 220lbs of sand seems like a lot. Not sure how much to tell you but seems like a lot. Be warmed if you plan on having sand sifters beware of crushed coral.

Yeah I have crushed coral in my current tank and lost my goby when the ammonia crap went down. He ate when I fed but never filtered. I will never have crushed coral again.

Where is a good place to get the reefcrystals salt?

Yeah I dont think I need that much sand either. The dude on ebay said for my size tank thats what it calls for to have a 2" bed. They are the seller, of course they want you to buy more. They have a little chart on their page.

Wow not as expensive as I thought.. wonder about shipping though.
The 160 and the 200 are the same price.. one is in a bucket and one is in a box.. LOL

Priced salt at the LFS yesterday... I will probably go that route....

Also.. I have been reading about modding a maxi jet? This tank came with a Maxi Jet 1200... not sure if it is already modded but it is making waves currently in my 37 lol too much flow.. but would like to mod it so it works in my 125 well so I will not have to buy new powerheads. I also have a maxi 400 if it works on that too

Ended up driving 45 minutes to the president of a local club I found's store..
Got the salt I needed for $35 and got 80lbs of sand for $40 :) LOL
So mixed the salt in the tank... let it run for a bit... moved the LR over from my 37 gallon.
Then we went at it with the sand.... got a good 2 inch sandbed throughout the tank..

Watch craigslist, any local forums, even call your local goodwill.. They have wicked deals on tanks sometimes... Too bad you live a good distance.. would give you a good deal on the 75 :)
