Whats your opinion on the Aquaripure? I have been thinking about getting one myself.

aquaripur, in my opinion, is the sole reason why I can pull off a full blown reef with the amount of fish that I have. It is so critical for a reef to have as close to zero nitrates as possible and I did not want a fish tank without fish. also I am not built for weekly water changes. I tried to be cheap and go the water change route but my lazyness cost me hundreds of dollars of lost corals when I did not do them religiously. so I bit the bullet and researched denitrators.

I tried one years ago, when the first came out, but it was a disaster and a waste of money so I was hesitant to try it again. I read up on the ones available and liked aquaripure the best for its ease of use. I found the science behind it very sound and gave it a try and I have been in coral heaven since. I even started buying stony corals because I have 0 nitrates and did not fear killing them.

It took 2 months to cycle, (I turned off my UV and ozone so it could cycle faster) and lowered my skimmer output.

If you do go for it make sure you follow the instructions 100%. especially the one about the drip count. the effluent coming out will lower your o2 content of your water. I increased my output more than recommended because of my bio load but I counter act the o2 deplition with my oversized skimmer (rated for 300 gallons (my tank is 90 gallons) and the addition of a ozone reactor).

And yes, I am a firm believer of filtration equipment being 2 to 3 times more capacity than the tank capacity.
