Decided to add my two cents!!!

they are very easy. with that amount of nitrates you should cycle in the 6-8 week period. regarding the intructions, yes follow them closely, especially adjusting the drip count. turn off ozone, uv and lower protien skimmer output untill unit cycles. u need to give the nitrifing bateria time to populate the unit. you will see blooms when u feed the unit with the vodka, but it will clear up over night.
