Decreasing my tank temp

    Another thought since you are keeping the top on. If it is plexi glass just cut some grooves in it with a tile saw(no teeth). It will still work as a splash gaurd but I bet you can get it to drop a degree or two that way. I did that on a wooden hood and it worked great.

    Oh no, I am not keeping the top on. All I want to do is create four L shaped pieces of acrylic and place them over the corners of the tank. The glass top would disappear forever. I was thinking about some eggcrate over the remainder if needed. The acrylic would then protect my wood, which is getting kinda week in the back on both sides.

    I have been meaning to get rid of that top for ages now, I just didn't have a good enough reason to. The temperature thing is now important as I believe it is affecting my coral health. The fish don't care. But my corals like it around 77 degrees give or take.

    Also if you have room, put in an air mist stone in front of the fan, should drop it even another 2-3 degrees (air born radiator)
