Its the bulkhead. The bulkheads that come with that tank, how can I say this child friendly, Sierra - Uniform - Charlie - Kilo. Its best to use regular bulkheads. I have heard to many people complaining about the leaks. The threads are thin and if you tighten it even more you will strip it.

You shouldn't use a gasket on the dry side only on the wet side. I would remove the gasket on the outside of the tank and then tighten it up hand tight. If it still leaks use a wrench and go a ¼ turn max. If it still leaks I would check the hole and make sure there are no chips in the glass. Also make sure the gasket is clean and free of debris.

If after all that it still leaks I would replace the bulkhead.

That frag shelf idea is outstanding. Mind if I steal it for my tank? The tank is looking very nice so far. Good luck with the bulk heads.

Check this out for the frag shelf...

I emailed deep blue professional to see if they'd replace the bulkhead (and overflow since its all glued now). I don't expect them to, but some companies are good on customer service. If they don't ill order a bulkhead from somewhere else...any recommendations?

Other than that I was pretty happy with everything. I'll have to work on the gurgling in the sump. But I think putting a cover over that part of the sump, and with the stand finished will help with that.

And to answer earlier question, I've got my rock soaking in a tank with air stone, heater, some chaeto and sunlight. So hopefully that will be in good shape by the time I'm ready to set up.

Well Deep Blue did respond and echoed what Monroe said - to remove the gasket on the dry side. I did that and no leak, so all is good there.

The Mag 7 pump has a very noticeable hum to it. I'm researching alternative pumps and eheim seems to be the consensus for good QUIET pump.

My mag7 was noisy and drove me crazy. I ended up replacing it with the sicce 3.0 pump and it was dead silent. I don't think you can go wrong with the sicce or the eheim pump.

Do you think Sicce 2.0 for my size tank? I was just looking at those too vs the Eheim 1260. Eheim being 2x more expensive though...

I think you could get away with a sicce 2.0 but a sicce 3.0 is going to have almost the same specs as the mag 7 you currently have. Not to mention it's better to have a little too much pump then not enough pump. You can always dial it down a little if you find the turnover rate is too high.
