Hi all. New to your forum and salt water aquariums in general. Just setting up a 38 gallon tank and so far I'm only using 2 50 gallon aqua clear filters (came highly recommended from two different LFSs), lots of live rock, sand and a few crabs. We hope to ultimately have fish and coral too. I have asked for help in another forum regarding my protein skimmer and I also need help with lighting. We purchased a Deep Blue Solar Extreme HOT5s with the timer and LEDs from an internet store and when we set it up, the white T5s flickered. The company is supposedly issuing a full refund plus return shipping. We have found the same light set up cheaper at another store and wanted to know if (1) we should try this fixture again and (2) if anyone has any experience with an internet store called SeaCorals. The store is rated good at Amazon and I think they have a bricks and mortar store in NC. We're a little hesitant to purchase online but I know a lot of you do and have great success. We can definately get better prices and need to get more comforable with online purchases. Any information would be appreciated. Thanks. :)

That is great they offered a full refund plus return shipping. I am not sure I would go back to the fixture although it is a generally solid but not spectacular unit. I do not know if I would use the fixture for high light SPS coral. It definitely should be fine for LPS and softies. No experience with SeaCorals.

I agree, the deep blue fixtures aren't a bad low cost fixture, but you definitely get what you pay for. Sub par ballasts with sub par bulbs.

Moonlights seem to go dim after a few months. There have been some issues with the timers as well.

I received my prepaid shipping label this morning. Yeah! Thanks for the information. We'll look into the high light coral issue. We haven't picked any particular corals we want yet.

What about the Aquatic Life fixture that has 1 10k white bulb, 2 blue and 1 purple along with the leds and timer?

That is a very good unit and would be a great choice.
