    Hello All,

We love our diamond back goby but he has developed a new routine. He creates a massive mound of sand every evening where he eventually shoots in and sleeps.

Though it is fun to watch, he is redistributing the sandbed.

We use to have a 4 inch sandbed throughout but now we have some areas of very shallow sand and a large mound. He does "take down" his mound during the day.

Should we be concerned? Do we need to add sand to low lying areas?

The deep sand bed was originally suggested by someone who serviced the tank as a way to add filtration. But my understanding is it shouldn't be so deeply disturbed that often.

Though we've had the system for over a year I still feel very new.

Thank you for your patience and guidance!

It is a dry heat, yeah right !
He is not disturbing such a large area that it would be a concern. It's really important for this fish to have a nice big sand bed to meet his nutritional needs.

:p At least he is consistent.

I have two Engineer Gobies that make 6 inch mounds all the time. Its no issue at all. It adds topography to your aquarium.
