Deep VS shallow sand bed?

    I've decided to go with a shallow sand bed in my new DT strictly for aesthetic purposes. I would prefer to do BB, but don't like the look. I will be cleaning the sand since it is not meant to do anything other than look good.

    I will have a DSB in my fuge.

    i went and got 20lbs more sand, so that's 80lbs total in a 55gal. i figure thats somewhere in between. it looks quite nice actually.

    i'll post pics in a couple hrs as soon as it clears up.

    I didn't use live sand.

    I think vacuuming sections of a shallow sand bed is a good thing - I just do small sections during each water change - to help get to the detritus........
