i used dehumidifier water in my 55gal for the longest time! it worked great but the dehumidifer couldnt keep up, and my old man kept shutting it off to save energy without realising i needed it running. just became impractical. With a smaller tank i could see it as a great alternative to RO water.

I don't have an RO unit but I do have a dehumidifier. So the question still remains what is wrong with dehumidifier water. It should be pure water?

I would be worried about having minerals on the evaporator coil that the water would pick up and then you add to your tank. If they sweat any of those joints it may come off in the water but you would have to test to be sure.
